Tips & Tricks
Mastering the perfect steak
Timing is key when preparing stake since there is only a few minutes difference between rare and well-done. To help you put a quality cut of meat to good use, here is how to prepare stake from start to finish.
• Seasoning
Contrary to popular belief, seasoning the steak does not draw out moisture. What it does is allow the steak to absorb the flavors more evenly, resulting in a tastier cut of meat. If you want to tenderize the meat, the season with marinade. However, if you like an unaltered flavor to beef, then keep it simple with just salt and pepper.
• Temperature
Get the steak to room temperature before cooking. A cold steak does not cook evenly. Also, make sure your pan, skillet, or barbecue is scorching hot before adding the meat. This helps create a caramelized exterior and a tender center in the steak.
• Cooking time
Never overcook a steak if you want to avoid overly tough meat. Always go for rare or medium-rare, which you should get in up to 5 minutes of cooking time depending on the cut and size of meat.
Health benefits
Eating steak on a keto diet can come with added health benefits. First of all, beef is rich in quality protein, zinc, B vitamins, iron, and selenium. And preparing it rare or medium-rare was found to not be associated with cancer as eating meat that’s well-done or processed. Besides that, the added butter in this recipe is a good source of butyric acid, a type of short-chain fatty acid that can help with irritable-bowl syndrome. And the garlic and parsley add vitamin C to this dish, which is a nutrient that helps the body absorb iron, among other things.
