Are Kiss My Keto bars better than Quest bars or the other way around? Read this review before buying.

Sticking with the keto diet becomes easier with various snack options available. One of the most sought-after keto snacks are keto bars. They’re convenient, travel-friendly, and can also serve as a quick breakfast if you don’t have time to cook an elaborate meal.

With so many bars on the market, the question is: Which brand offers the best keto bars? And are these bars truly healthy and supportive of your lifestyle? This article focuses on two fan favorites, namely Quest bars and Kiss My Keto bars.

To help you make the best possible product choice, we’re going to look at important aspects such as the ingredients, nutrition information, available flavors, and more.

We also did a review previously on Perfect Keto vs Kiss My Keto bars. Check that one out if you haven’t yet.

What Are Quest Bars?

Quest bars are snack bars that are high in protein. These are the creations of Quest Nutrition, a company with a mission to make the foods you crave work to your advantage. To do this, they create products with minimal carbohydrates and sugar.

This sounds great for anyone who’s on a low-carb lifestyle.

With the amount of attention that Quest bars are getting, one can immediately assume that they’re the perfect snack. But is that actually the case? Are Quest bars healthy?

Are Quest Bars Keto-Friendly?

In a nutshell, a Quest protein bar fits a low-carb diet. So, in case you’re wondering, “Are Quest bars good for a ketoer like me?” The answer to that is yes. In addition, they’ve been sweetened using erythritol (a sugar alcohol), sucralose, and stevia. These are all common sugar substitutes.

Just be careful, though, because one of their flavors contains honey which is not keto-friendly.

Quest Bars vs Kiss My Keto

At Kiss My Keto, we empower our consumers to make choices that support their goals on a low-carb diet, whether that’s to lose weight or prevent disease. With that said, we’ve created our own keto-friendly bars that serve as healthier alternatives to mainstream snack bars.

Below, we’re going to take a look at how our products and Quest’s can be similar and different using a number of factors. Check them out below.

A note on the ingredients:

Sweetener ingredients in Quest bars include erythritol, stevia, soluble corn fiber, and sucralose. For Kiss My Keto, they’ve used erythritol, stevia, and soluble tapioca fiber. These are all low carb and keto-friendly sweeteners.

Certain individuals tend to be sensitive towards some of these sweeteners. You’ll find actual feedback in the Customer reviews section below. For example, one customer commented on a Quest bar saying that they had terrible bloating and gas due to the soluble corn fiber.

You might want to avoid these on a strict keto diet:

We’ve noticed that Quest’s Maple Waffle Protein contains a small amount of honey. Their Oatmeal Chocolate Chip contains oats. Beware of these non-keto ingredients

Macronutrients

Kiss My Keto bars feature well-balanced macros that support nutritional ketosis. 1 serving (1 bar = 50g) has:

  • Calories: 230-240
  • Net carbs: 3g
  • Fat: 18-19g
  • Protein: 9g

Quest bars start at a bigger serving (1 bar = 60g) with high protein and less fat. Another thing to note is that these bars contain more net carbs than Kiss My Keto bars:

  • Calories: 180-210
  • Net carbs: 4-5g
  • Fat: 6-10g
  • Protein: 20-21g

A note on keto macros:

Recall that on a ketogenic diet, you need to restrict your carb and increase your fat intake. Based on the macros above, it’s clear that Quest bars have more net carbs, less fat, and more protein. Too much protein and carbs may lower your blood ketone levels if you go over the recommended limits.

A Quest bar itself won’t kick you out of ketosis, unless you’ve already exceeded your limits. That is why a Kiss My Keto bar might be a better product in terms of being a ketogenic product. It also contains more fat from medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) that help increase your ketone levels.

Flavors

When it comes to flavor availability, Quest has more protein bar options. Currently, they have 19 flavors with Lemon Cake as their new flavor. They also have a Chocolate Lovers Variety Pack and an Ultimate Variety Pack that features 12 flavors.

Kiss My Keto, on the other hand, sticks with 3 classic chocolate flavors including Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Cookie Dough. If you’re a chocolate fanatic, you’ll love these flavors especially that all of them follow the proper macros for the keto diet.

Protein Bars Taste & Texture

Here are some comments from actual customers on Amazon:

Kiss My Keto

  • “I purchased the cookie dough ones and the flavor was nice without any sort of unpleasant aftertaste, which can be common with some sweeteners.”
  • “The taste is true to description and rivals many homemade recipes I have tried.”
  • “They have a creamy texture and a good bite to them. The chocolate on the outside can get a little flakey, so have a napkin nearby.”
  • “Excellent texture, not too dense or heavy, the right amount of sweetness.”

Quest

  • “Personally, I like the high-protein, low-carb nutritional value and it tastes remarkably like a birthday cake!”
  • “A little chewy, but no funny after taste. The texture does take some getting used to.”
  • “These bars are very dense, chewy and fudgy–delicious!”
  • “I am a very picky eater and tried a variety of other brands and flavors of protein bars and this bar was the only one that did not make me want to gag.”

As you’ve read, both Kiss My Keto and Quest have gotten tons of positive feedback from those who’ve found our bars both flavorful and fudgy.

Price

A 12-count box of Kiss My Keto bars will cost you $35.99 regardless of the flavor. Not everyone finds this cheap, however, you get a better deal by subscribing for a delivery every 30, 45, or 60 days to save 12.5%. One of our customers also mentioned finding the variety box (all flavors) “easier on the wallet than buying 3 dozen bars at a time.”

Quest bars, on the other hand, sells a box of 12 for $24.99 regardless of the flavor. If you want their ultimate variety pack with selected flavors, it will cost you $25.99.

Customer reviews

Another way to compare these two brands is to consider them from a consumer perspective. Kiss My Keto and Quest received both positive and negative feedback, giving them a chance to identify ways to improve the products over time. (Though most comments were positive!)

Kiss My Keto

The good:

  • Increased satiety: “I had one for breakfast and stayed full most of the day. I was pleasantly surprised by these and am glad I ordered them!”
  • Good tasting: “I got the multi-pack and tried the chocolate coconut first. It was really, really good. I mean like eating a candy bar. Several days later I had the chocolate peanut butter and it too is delicious. Haven’t tried the cookie dough yet, but suspect it will be equally good.”
  • Good for on-the-go: “These are the bars that are my “go-to’s” without question. There are days I simply do not get my food ready early enough to have a meal or a snack ready for heading out the door.

In this short period of time, these bars have changed my world!!!”

The bad:

  • Causes gas in some people: “The only major downside is that you can have a little GI problems (cramps and flatulence)…”

Quest

The good:

  • Chewiness: “The chewiness, combined with the crunch of the cookies inside, makes these seem like a forbidden treat when dieting.”
  • No weird aftertaste: “Love these! A little chewy, but no funny after taste. The texture does take some getting used to.”
  • Taste and nutritional value: “I’ve tried a few protein bars, but Quest are by far the best in my opinion for getting the best taste for the nutritional value. Most protein bars are made up of a dense, dry inside covered in chocolate or something. It gets very boring and the taste always falls flat.”

The bad:

  • Digestive disturbances: “I loved Quest Bars, but since they’ve changed the formula to include corn fiber, they cause me terrible bloating and gas. They are not as good as when previously purchased.”

The Verdict

If you’re following a strict ketogenic diet, your body is more likely to respond better to Kiss My Keto bars. This is because Kiss My Keto bars are lower in net carbs with only 3 grams per bar, and they contain ketone-boosting MCTs.

Quest bars ingredients don’t list MCTs and they’re higher in protein. Thus, Quest labels them as “protein bars” instead of “keto bars”. After all, Quest Nutrition did not claim to be a ketogenic company, although they mention creating protein products and minimize carb and sugar. And if you enjoy having plenty of options, you might go for Quest.

So, are Quest protein bars healthy? They are, for those who are limiting their carbs and sugar. Reaching and maintaining ketosis, however, is easier with Kiss My Keto bars due to their macros.
